1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of PDF Tools API ("we", "us", or "our"), including our website, API endpoints, and related services. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

2. Service Description

PDF Tools API provides REST API endpoints for PDF operations including but not limited to: conversion to and from PDF format, merging multiple PDF files, splitting PDF files, compressing PDF files, extracting text and images from PDFs, adding watermarks, rotating pages, encrypting and decrypting PDFs.

3. Account Registration

To use our service, you must:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Protect your password and API keys
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Not use our service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose

4. API Usage Limits

Your API usage is subject to the limits specified in your chosen plan. We reserve the right to enforce rate limits to ensure fair usage and service availability for all users. Exceeding usage limits may result in:

  • Temporary suspension of API access until the next billing cycle
  • Additional charges for overage at the rate specified in your plan
  • Required plan upgrade for continued access

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to:

  • Process malicious, harmful, or illegal content
  • Violate any laws or regulations through your use of the service
  • Infringe upon intellectual property rights of others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software
  • Use our service to send spam or unsolicited communications
  • Share your API keys with unauthorized third parties
  • Perform load testing without prior written approval

6. Intellectual Property

All right, title, and interest in and to the Service (including all intellectual property rights embodied therein, including any patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, know-how, and all other proprietary rights) is and will remain exclusively with PDF Tools API. These Terms do not grant you any rights to use our trademarks, logos, domain names, or other brand features.

You retain all rights to the content you upload to our service. We do not claim ownership over your files or data.

7. Payment Terms

  • Billing Cycle: Monthly, charged in advance
  • Payment Methods: Credit card, PayPal, or other methods we support
  • No Refunds: All fees are non-refundable unless required by law
  • Chargebacks: Excessive chargebacks may result in account suspension
  • Price Changes: We will notify you at least 30 days before price changes

8. Service Availability

While we strive for 99.9% uptime, the Service may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, updates, or due to network or equipment failures beyond our control. We are not liable for any damages or losses resulting from service interruptions.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PDF TOOLS API BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU TO US DURING THE 3 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason.

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service immediately ceases
  • Your API keys will be revoked
  • All stored files will be deleted within 72 hours
  • Pro-rated refunds are not provided for partial billing periods

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California.

13. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of material changes via email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
